Greetings
from the
Williamsburg Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
located in the Colonial Capital of Williamsburg, Virginia.
Williamsburg Alumnae is a warm sisterly chapter that serves our
community and fosters the spirit of sisterhood.
Delta Sigma Theta
Sorority, Inc., is a national public service organization of women
committed to educational and economic development. Delta Sigma Theta
Sorority, Inc. was founded on the campus of Howard University in 1913.
The twenty-two coeds who formed the first chapter set high scholastic
achievement as their standard for membership. In 1930, Delta Sigma Theta
Sorority was incorporated as a national organization. Today there are
more than 200,000 members with more than 800 chapters nationwide and
internationally. Follow the links below to our National web site
and South Atlantic Regional web site for additional information.
Williamsburg Alumnae Chapter follows the five point
programmatic thrust that Delta
Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. established as a public service organization
and is the stated mission to benefit others.
That five point thrust is:
-
Economic Development
-
Educational Development
-
International Awareness and Involvement
-
Physical and Mental Health
-
Political Awareness and Involvement
We are proud of the consistently high level of programs
we have developed that benefit all in our large service area of
Williamsburg, James City, York and Gloucester County. Please stay
tuned to our web site for information regarding our signature
fundraiser, The Afternoon of Jazz, which benefits our scholarship fund.
Annual
scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors in our service area to
assist with college tuition and books. These scholarships are awarded
at our May Week breakfast held the first Saturday in May.
